We combine expertise from diverse fields including data science, physics, game development, neurotechnology, and machine learning, along with experience from academia, non-profits, startups, and industry, to tackle AI safety challenges.

Esben Kran

Co-Director
Esben brings a background in impact entrepreneurship, cognitive science research, and product development to make the Apart collective a productive and exciting place. He is also an advisor to several AI safety non-profits and impact startups.

Jason Schreiber

Co-Director
With a PhD in experimental quantum physics and ML engineering experience at multiple AI startups, Jason worked with METR and PIBBSS before joining Apart Research as research lead and co-director. He brings a dedicated focus on research quality and shapes the Apart Lab.

Archana Vaidheeswaran

Community Program Manager
Archana brings valuable experience as previous lead product manager for Women Who Code (350,000 members) and board member for Women in Machine Learning. She is nominated as Singapore's top 100 women in tech and joined Apart in June 2024 to take the Apart experience to the next level.

Natalia Pérez-Campanero Antolín

Research Project Manager
Natalia started at Apart in June 2024 to innovate and improve the Lab design with experience as The Royal Society's Entrepreneurs in Residence Programme Manager and as postdoc at Oxford University.

Finn Metz

Operations Associate
Finn brings his experience as incubation lead at TUM AI and from multiple venture funds to assist with new Apart projects, financial operations and improving our systems. He is currently finishing his studies at UC Berkeley.

Connor Axiotes

Research Communications Specialist
Connor brings AI research, policy, and communications experience from his time working in British politics, as Director of Communications at a leading Westminster think tank, and for AI startups. He was also offered a fully-funded PhD for work in Alternate Voting Mechanisms from Durham University.

Clement Neo

Research Assistant
After winning the first interpretability hackathon, Clement published work investigating attention head-MLP interactions in transformers. He is now working as a Research Assistant at Apart while pursuing the final stages of his undergraduate studies, and has contributed to the projects of other Apart Fellows.

Jacob Haimes

Research Assistant
After winning participation in an evals hackathon, Jacob joined cohort 4 and has recently led authorship on a paper showing how models are cheating on popular evaluations for safety. He is now working as a professional research assistant at Apart Research and helps manage the capable research teams.

Jaime Raldúa Veuthey

Research Acceleration Engineer
Jaime is our new Research Acceleration Engineer. He has a really important combination of software engineering skills and a deep understanding of machine learning and AI research processes. As our Research Acceleration Engineer, he will play a crucial part in enabling the research team to work more effectively and efficiently, ultimately contributing to Apart's mission.
